The City of Surprise will be starting a Transportation Impact Fee Study to help determine one-time fees for a new development, according to a press release from the city.
"Impact fees are about planning for smart and sustainable growth in the city. Implementing a Transportation Impact Fee would help ensure adequate transportation infrastructure as the city grows," the city said in the press release.
The study will help the city determine where improvements for transportation are needed, the costs for the improvements and draft an ordinance for development.
The city, the planning and zoning commission and city council will be working on the study together and throughout the revision process. The city estimates it will last 10 months, with final revision coming out after January.
The city will be holding a public outreach meeting on Thursday, Sept. 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. It will be a remote meeting and can be accessed through WebEx. The meeting number is 146 266 0190 and the password for the meeting is geMrz8w2Rh2.
Individuals can also join the meeting by phone by calling 602-666-0783.
