During the Nov. 3 election, Peoria residents will have a chance to vote on the city's general plan, a city-issued news release states.
The city has rapidly grown since it was first incorporated in 1954, the news release states, and the general plan will help guide future growth.
The city will use the general plan to help with future decisions related to resource management, land use, infrastructure and public services, along with other things. The general plan will also provide a defined program for what to do to achieve the community vision, the news release states.
The general plan is known as PlanPeoriaAZ 2040 and it will be on the Nov. 3 ballot as Proposition 445, according to the news release. The plan also includes wellness, strategic relationships, fiscal responsibility, adaptability, placemaking and forward-thinking. It along intends to make use of unused areas in the city to help with a sense of place, the news release states.
