City of El Mirage issued the following announcement on Nov. 22
On 11/21/20 at about 11:30 p.m., El Mirage officers were conducting a traffic stop in the 13800 block of N. Dysart Road when the driver of a second vehicle approached the officers and was contacted by them.
After a brief verbal exchange with the officer, the driver of the second vehicle drove at the officers and occupants in the vehicle that had been stopped originally. Two officers on scene fired their duty weapons at the driver, striking him. The driver collided with a patrol car and then fled on foot and was soon arrested. The suspect was taken to the hospital, treated and released prior to being booked into jail on multiple charges.
Both officers were uninjured during the incident
