The City of Tucson Magistrates Merit Selection Commission is currently in the process of interviewing applicants for a vacant City Magistrate position in City Court. The applicants selected for interviews are Donald Alfred McDonald, Frank Anjakos, Matthew A. Walker, Paul Joseph Skitzki, Sarah Mayhew, and Suzette Marquez Leonardo.
In order to ensure transparency and involve the public in the decision-making process, the commission is welcoming and encouraging public participation. The commission is particularly interested in hearing from individuals who are familiar with the applicants or have had direct experience with them.
All comments should be submitted in writing or via email by 5 p.m., Monday, Feb. 1, 2024. Submissions can be sent to the City Magistrates Merit Selection Commission through the City Clerk's Office at P.O. Box 27210, Tucson, AZ 85726-7210, or via email to clerk-ea@tucsonaz.gov. When submitting via email, please use "City Magistrate Merit Selection Public Comment" as the subject line.

Therefore, individuals can feel comfortable expressing their opinions without fear of their comments being made public. In order to provide a thorough evaluation of the applicants, comments should include the basis for the expressed opinions.
