Peoria City Council appoints John Tatz as new Presiding Judge

Peoria City Council has appointed John Tatz as the new Municipal Court Presiding Judge, replacing the retiring Judge George Anagnost. Tatz, who has a background in overseeing high-volume courts and implementing specialized court programs, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity. Mayor Jason Beck welcomed Tatz back to Peoria, emphasizing his experience and temperament, stating, "His experience in overseeing a high-volume court, while maintaining excellent jurisprudential temperament will serve our city well." Tatz, in turn, expressed his gratitude and readiness to serve, saying, "I am grateful to put my public service experience to work in my hometown." The new Presiding Judge will officially begin his service on April 15, 2024. The Municipal Court in Peoria handles a variety of cases including criminal misdemeanors, traffic violations, city code violations, and specialized courts for specific needs.
