Peoria, AZ (April 2, 2024) - Historic Downtown Peoria is set to see exciting new developments with the approval of two restaurant, retail, and event venue projects during Tuesday evening's City Council Meeting.

Mayor Jason Beck expressed the council's enthusiasm for the projects, stating, "Revitalizing our downtown is at the heart of the city council’s vision for growing economic development in Peoria and we are thrilled to attract these quality developments."

Mayor Pro Tempore Jennifer Crawford, who represents the Acacia District, shared her excitement about the new businesses, saying, "After 30 years of discussion, we are turning ideas into reality. Just like really good BBQ, it takes time to get it right and in working through the development and rental agreements with these outstanding partners, I know we got it right."

One of the upcoming establishments, Caldwell County BBQ at Peoria, will be a signature barbecue restaurant opening its first West Valley location along Washington Street. Travis Taylor, Caldwell’s Director of Operations, expressed the team's passion for BBQ and their excitement to work with the city, stating, "BBQ is a passion for us, and we are excited to be working with the city of Peoria to make our style BBQ available to the wonderful people of West Valley."

The second development, Jefferson House, will feature restaurants, a bar, and retail/event space on the northwest corner of 83rd Avenue and Jefferson Street. Lance Linderman, project partner and owner of Driftwood Coffee, shared his enthusiasm for contributing to the community, saying, "Downtown Peoria has been our beloved home for almost a decade, and we couldn't be more thrilled to contribute to the development of this community."

Both projects are part of the city council's strategic revitalization vision for the Downtown Peoria area and are located on city-owned properties acquired as part of this vision.
