Peoria Police Department Host Coffee With A Cop Thursday

Peoria Police Department is inviting the community to a special event this Thursday, April 11. The event, named Coffee With A Cop, will provide an opportunity for community members to engage with officers, discuss community issues, and enjoy a cup of coffee. The event will take place from 8 to 10 am at The Valley Buzz, located at 9069 W. Olive Ave Unit #107.

According to the Peoria Police Department, the initiative aims to address the fact that "the majority of contact law enforcement has with the public happens during emergencies, or emotional situations." They believe that "those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community." In light of this, some community members may perceive officers as "unapproachable on the street."

Recognizing these challenges, Coffee With A Cop seeks to break down barriers and foster a more relaxed and personal interaction between law enforcement and the community. The event provides a unique platform for community members to ask questions, learn more about the department's work in Peoria's neighborhoods, and engage in meaningful conversations with officers.
