Greenway High School in Phoenix, Arizona, has been awarded the A+ School of Excellence Award, a prestigious state-level recognition for public schools. This accolade places Greenway among 53 Arizona public schools honored this year.

The award, established 42 years ago as a precursor to the U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon Award, acknowledges exceptional performance in academics and community engagement. The school credits its success to the dedication of its teachers and staff. Principal Ed Barnes stated, “Our teachers and staff go above and beyond to create an environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.” He added that the award reflects their collective efforts to build a supportive and innovative community.

This is the third time in five years that a school from Greenway's district has received this honor, with Washington and Cortez High Schools previously recognized. The district's focus on strong leadership, innovative instruction, and active community involvement is highlighted by these achievements.

The A+ designation involves a rigorous evaluation process based on leadership quality, curriculum standards alignment, teaching practices, and community engagement. For Greenway High School, the award signifies not only academic excellence but also the significant role of educators in creating a safe and inspiring learning environment.
