Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers is seeking new members for his Mayor’s Youth Advisory Commission (MYAC). Vacancies have been created because of former MYAC members graduating from high school this past spring.
“This is a great opportunity for Glendale’s best and brightest high school students to learn about their city firsthand and see what goes on behind the scenes,” said Mayor Weiers. “MYAC members are generally high achievers with busy lives, yet they still find time to serve our citizens.”
MYAC provides high school students with opportunities to make a positive impact in Glendale by getting involved in their local city government and community. Youth commission members volunteer for community service activities, raise funds for projects, and serve as a liaison to the Mayor as the foremost voice on local youth-related issues.
Commission members must attend monthly meetings at Glendale City Hall and volunteer for a minimum of 20 hours of fun and impactful community projects throughout the schoolyear.
To be eligible for the competitive selection process, teens must reside or attend high school in Glendale for the 2022-23 school year, as well as submit a membership application.
Applications can be completed online at www.glendaleaz.com/mayor. The deadline to apply is Friday, August 12.
