U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) has put forth a resolution in an effort to acknowledge the situation at the southern border as an invasion. Lesko emphasized the severity of the border crisis, stating, “The only word that aptly describes the situation on the ground is ‘invasion,’ which is happening every day at our southern border and negatively affecting communities across this nation."

Lesko's resolution underlines alarming statistics, pointing out that there have been over 8 million illegal immigrants who have crossed the southern border since President Joe Biden took office. Additionally, it highlights a significant increase in suspected terrorists apprehended and a surge in deadly drugs entering the U.S. due to the porous border.

Expressing solidarity with Texas, Lesko commended the state for declaring an invasion at the border and called upon Arizona officials to take action. She specifically mentioned Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen and House Speaker Ben Toma for supporting Texas in defending its border, urging Governor Katie Hobbs and Attorney General Kris Mayes to safeguard the state's borders.

A multitude of U.S. Representatives have joined Lesko as cosponsors of the resolution, showing support for recognizing the border crisis as an invasion. The list of cosponsors includes names such as Marjorie Taylor Greene, Joe Wilson, and Brian Babin, among others. Lesko's initiative aims to provide legal grounds for states to address the ongoing challenges posed by the situation at the southern border.
