Grand Canyon University's Got Talent event was a night filled with laughter and entertainment as comedian Luis Escamilla stole the show with his hilarious performance titled "Who’s Laughing Now?" Escamilla, a student from Jalisco, Mexico, showcased his comedic talent by humorously contrasting his Mexican upbringing with his American life at the university.

Escamilla's act resonated with the audience, and his cultural humor had students howling with laughter. Describing moments from his childhood, including attending church with his mother, Escamilla's energetic style and witty jokes won over the crowd. As he humorously recounted a moment with his mother during church, where he received a warning with the words, "This is your final warning!" Escamilla quipped, "Who’s laughing now?"

After being crowned the winner of the talent contest, Escamilla expressed his gratitude, saying, "Every time we make something great we celebrate with olé, olé, olé. We win." The comedian, who performed in a poncho from Mexico adorned with the flag, received a warm reception from his fellow Latino students who chanted and sang in celebration of his victory.

Reflecting on his nerves before the performance, Escamilla shared, "I was nervous, but once the first joke hit I was okay. Once I told them the joke about a green card I was okay." Despite his success, Escamilla remains humble, stating, "If I do it again, most important will be to show more people to try new things."

The event also featured a diverse range of talents, including musical performances that captivated the audience. From soulful vocals to energetic yo-yo tricks, the night was a testament to the creativity and skill of Grand Canyon University students. With acts like Crisyl Omayan showcasing her singing talent and Gannon McShane impressing with his yo-yo skills, the competition was fierce yet entertaining.

As the evening came to a close, it was evident that GCU's Got Talent continues to be a platform for students to showcase their unique abilities and entertain their peers. Escamilla's comedic triumph left a lasting impression, reminding everyone of the power of laughter and the joy it brings.
